Or much disappointed if he expecteth much? Hmmm.

I think the illustration would be great in a book for children. Now you need to write a story to go with those shoes.

Vee, curiously enough, I first wrote this "maxim" in the form you suggest. You're the story person; you write it. You may use the illustration.

That's not a fun way to live. The drawing is quite good indeed. Is there no end to your talents? (Persimmon jelly was it, or jam? I still want some.)

Despise not the day of small things.

Grace, unfortunately, too many people live have to live that way, and worse.
(It is persimmon pudding. I have not tried jam or jelly.)

Chuck, we are to be grateful for all blessings.

I dunno, sometimes I think if you wait for the big stuff, you miss the joy in the little stuff. But... you have to want the big stuff too...it's a tough balance.

Lin, I suspect that embedded in that somewhere is the truth that who expects nothing gets pretty much what he expects. Goals and desires are valid, and we should expect results from our efforts. The balance, as you say, is key.
