All in Fun

Monday I wrote about new socks.  Sharkey commented that she had a hard time picturing me wearing weird or unusual socks.

I responded that in my working days, I was "known" for my exotic footwear.  I offer this exhibit.  At my retirement party, several of my staff members "mocked" me in a light-hearted manner by wearing gaudy stockings.

Did I ever mention that I had a wonderful and fun-loving staff?

Appropriate tribute to a great (and fun) principal.

They obviously think very highly of you. Well done, sir.

Vee, thank you. Good times.

Chuck, thanks. Good people, good work; good feelings at the end of the mission.

I think men have far fewer choices in clothing than women and there are still work environments that look down on any display of individuality or imagination or fun. So for men, socks it is!

Grace, in general I approve of dress requirements for men that do not necessarily promote uniformity, but that do promote professional appearance. Socks, yes, provide a slender opening for individual expression without code violation. btw: in retirement you will find me in Wranglers and tee or sweat shirt most days. :-)

That is great! No wonder I like you. Everyone needs to have some little quirk of rebellion from the norms of society.

Shark, thank you; quirky people have to stick together. Harmless quirks without negative consequences preferred.
