Mushrooms in the Springtime
Celebration! Friday evening the children of BBBH showed up here to honor her for being their mother. They took her out for dinner. Unfortunately I was not able to accompany them, but one of the kids brought me pizza! Visiting went on until some hour past, probably well past, my bedtime.
Sunday afternoon her youngest child, Kent, showed up to take his mother mushroom hunting. I was invited, but I opted for the comfort of the mattress.
They were not unsuccessful, for they did find mushrooms. (See picture.) They were looking for the ever-elusive morel, of course, and it eluded them.
Scientific identification: some sort of fungus on a stick.

Love the scientific identification...always learning something here.
Well, it sounds like a wonderful Mother's Day for JoAnn!
When I was in college, I had a friend who was a biology major and she'd drag me along for those mushroom hunts. We didn't keep them, we just had to a) find them, b) identify them, c) photograph them and D) leave them where they were. Who knew there was so much to know about mushrooms??!
Morels are a favorite. It has been a long time since I've sought that elusive prey.
Grace, always ready to impart knowledge!
Lin, who knew, indeed. There are people with PhDs in the subject.
Chuck, local grocery had some of the elusive critters at, I think, $46 the pound. No thanks.
Glad JoAnn had special time with her children for Mother's Day.
Vee, yes, she had a nice weekend and I had a pretty restful one. Win-win.
