The Old Dame Revisited

A year ago I posted a little verse "The Old Guy and the Old Dame" accompanied by this picture.

I was wondering at the time which would go first, guy or dame.

I stopped by to check on her condition today and this is what I found.

Frankly, I hope I am faring better than the old house, but who is to say?  We are both still standing.  Somewhat.

Well, from the front it looks good. Nuts to those who insist on walking all the way around for an up-close inspection.

Lin, the house is at a crossroads so everything is pretty much on public view. Nuts to me? Thank you very much.

Don't get too close while exploring. One little puff of wind and the Guy and the Dame could be gone at the same time.

Vee, trust me; I thought of that.

Oh no! I didn't mean nuts to YOU! :( I think I was going more for the angle of those who look to closely at US. You know what I mean, right? Aw...poop. I think I shall stop here.

Oh, Lin. I knew what you meant. My (apparently unfunny) response was meant in fun. I think I shall stop here.

They tell a tale of an era in the past. Makes one feel a bit sad. Those houses, just like nostalgia, aren't what they used to be.

Chuck, isn't that what nostalgia is all about? Longing for a day that never was?

Something to be said for standing.
