McCormick at the Mid-America Threshing and Antique Show

A lot of red at the show this year.  What could the featured machinery be?

Then this baby, "Gray Tractor," went rumbling by.  It is a vintage
roller, or road compactor.

When I see machinery of this type, I always have to wonder about the kind of thinking it must have taken to develop one. A tractor would have been useful to every farmer, but one person initially met that need.

It's fun to see vintage things, but I probably would not be found looking at tractors. A vintage furniture show would be great.

Vee, okay. But furniture just sits there; tractors move, and snort, and make noise!

Vanilla, true. Boys are born liking movement, snorts, and noise.

Someday I will figure out my fascination with farm equipment - it just might be the colors, or the size or the sound. Sorry Vee, I'm more interested in ogling combines than cabinets...

Do you reckon the gray tractor has a "road gear?" Just curious.

Very interesting. I like the tractors too.

Grace, seems machinery and furniture cross the divide: there are members of both genders who like them both.

Chuck, I didn't get to talk to the operator; but I know that if it had far to go at the speed it was running it would take until day-afer-tomorrow to get there.

Sharkey, truly a lot of fascinating machinery to look at.
