Congratulations - (28 great grandchildren? My goodness - a large prolific family!)

Jacquie, thanks!

Shelly, thank you!

Vee, another family member and the end not yet in sight.

Chuck, thanks!

Grace, thank you. (That makes the ratio of grandchildren to great grandchildren 1:1)

Hi Vanilla,
What great news!
28! Do you babysit them all?
John

P.S.: Here is my reply to your question on my blog posting this morning:

Hi Vanilla,

In reply to your question:

After one consultation with Ginny's doctors, I left the noise and confusion of hospital halls and grounds to find an isolated place where I could pray, smoke my pipe, and contemplate what life would be like were she to die.

I walked about a half block away and found a shade tree by a traffic sign to sit on my walker seat and think. Not a living soul within 75 feet of my quiet spot.

The young man approached commanding that I move along.

I suspect that although I had shaved, showered and dressed in clean clothes a few hours earlier, he thought I was a homeless bum loitering on the fringe of his neat yppie world.

I replied, "Sir, I am on a public street. Go away and leave me alone".

He continued to demand that I at least move across the street. I repeated the exact words I'd said before.

Again he berated me.

Again I said, "Sir, I am on a public street. Go away and leave me alone".

He reached out as though to grab my arm but he thought better of it.

Perhaps I exuded menace. Don't make me angry; you won't like me when I'm angry.

Or perhaps he remembered that Florida is home to many retired people and state law enforces stringent mandatory penalties for assaults on seniors. At any rate he chose to walk away.

A wise move.

If he had indeed grabbed me, he may have beaten me to a pulp, but he would have known he'd been in a fight.

Forty years and a hundred pounds ago I won trophies fighting in karate tournaments and that skill is like riding a bike; you may not be good at it any more but you still remember how to pedal.

Now, there was no sin in his demands nor in my response at the time. Just what they call a personality conflict. That happens.

My sin lies in replaying the incident over and over in my mind and in harbouring resentment in my heart.

May the Lord forgive that young man. And me.

John

John, great news, indeed! And better news, and in answer to your question, no, we do not. :-)

Thank you for the response to my question. I understand the aggravation that surely boiled up within you. What gives some people the sense of entitlement that makes them ruler of the universe?

Now, I will say, that as a reformed pipe smoker (and after fifteen years of deprivation, I do miss it) perhaps that was the source of the twits annoyance? bwahaha!

Wow- that is quite a spreading family tree! Do you keep track of them all?

Shark, we try to know at least where they are, but I have to admit that I've never seen three of the greatgrands.
