Pikes peak is anything but desolate. Humming birds as thick as I have ever seen. Marmonts along the tree lines and lots of other wildlife. It's a lot like a desert. It has to be explored to find the fauna.
Grace-- Flatlanders would come to visit, ooh and aah! over the scenery. Dad would say, But you can't eat it. (Since that far-distant day when God's wondrous creations were here for all to enjoy, several somebodies seemingly have found ways to "eat" the scenery, for the "costs" to visit some of the attractions are outrageous these days. Yet there are many places to see with very little expense. e.r.)
Bob-- Yours is an interesting and correct observation. Sometimes we see little because we seek little.
