Forces in the Universe

Here is today's weirdity.  This morning I was singing in the shower.  Burl Ives, "My Funny Way of Laughing."  Enjoying the song, thinking about Mr. Ives, now long gone.

Then I open the computer.  (Okay, I got dressed and everything first.)  In my news feed I find that Burl Ives was born on this date in 1909!

Eight years ago I posted a little tribute to Burl Ives along with his rendition of "Big Rock Candy Mountain."  To listen, click here.

Chuck, a very folksy mannerism and I enjoyed it.

Grace, fun singing in the shower, a little stroll down memory lane, and a soupcon of eerie on the side. Great start to a great day!

WOW! What a cool coincidence!

I saw Burl Ives at Western Illinois university--at the church, of all places. I always thought he went there, but I guess he went to Eastern. Not sure why, but the rumor was always there that he was from the area..but I think it was more Eastern Il. Either way...it was a treat to see him in person...and yes, he was singing with his guitar for the mass.

Lin, I am envious. I liked his work since I was quite young. I am not a "fan" in the classic sense of following a performer's every move, but I enjoyed his music and story telling.
