Lin, that was my thought. I feel certain the bird was alarmed for safety of its young'ns. It squawked several seconds, ending each sentence with a curse; repeated over and over for at least ten minutes.
The cat is the next-door neighbors'. Its function is to terrorize the birds and the dogs. And poop.

Vee, it was quite funny to watch. Bird cursed the cat for ten minutes while I was out there. Finally flew away.

I'm wondering if that bird has little ones somewhere nearby. They usually don't bother with the cats unless they are worried about baby birds.
