Shadows

Family Friday logo

The child is my mother standing in front of her grandmother, her shadow cast on her mother's skirt. Neither of these ladies is five feet tall, yet the child grew to 5'3".  The picture would be dated about 1911.

What a delightful picture! I so enjoy looking at old pictures like this and knowing a little about the people in them~

That is a wonderful photo for the content, for the history and for the quality. The shadow is a marvelous capture - you really can't tell there is a bow in your mothers hair unless you look at the shadow!

Priceless. I remember how exciting it was when I finally outgrew Grandma. I think I was in fifth grade.

The family resemblance is quite strong. Thanks for participation in Family Friday.

Shelly, I am blessed with the old "shoe box" of pictures my mother collected. Fun!

Grace, it is a great "shadow" picture. I have wondered if the photographer realized what she/he had, but it's a hundred years too late to ask!

Vee, fifth grade seems about right, since Grandma was four foot eight.

Chuck, yes, I guess we are a genetic compilation of our ancestors.

Very interesting shadow. So how did you get enough collective genes to equal two of those people stacked together?

Shark, I'm guessing it is the function of tiny women marrying big men.

Jackie, thank you. Getting to know our ancestors is a good thing. I enjoy the sharing the participants are doing.
