Advent, Third Sunday

The pink candle, The  Joy Candle, is lighted today.  The candles of Hope and Peace are alight.  As Christ is our Hope, as He is Peace, Christ is our Joy!

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! --Isaiah 52:7 (KJV)

I love that verse from Isaiah, and it is a reminder that there is peace, beauty, and good tidings in Him.

Many things related to the Christian Calendar were ignored by the church in which I grew up, including the lighting of Advent candles. I greatly appreciate the Christmas celebrations of the Church, especially the rereading every year of the Advent scriptures.

I was thinking this morning about the faith that will be demonstrated by the people in Newtown, CT, as they light the" Joy" candle today.

Shelly, the message of salvation is good news, indeed!

Vee, it is crucial that we be ever mindful of his love, his peace, and the joy He brings, even in the midst of our sorrow.

Jackie, thank you; and peace be with you.
