Nancy Wake 1912 - 2011 RIP
Last week we looked briefly at The Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen, and his contemporaries during the conflict known as WWI. Moving along, this week we take a peek at a heroic participant during WWII. Today is the anniversary of the return to French soil via parachute of Nancy Wake, resistance leader, spy, soldier
par excellence. Ms. Wake was known as "The White Mouse" and at one point had a five million franc price on her pretty head, courtesy the German Gestapo.
There will be no lengthy essay here, for her deeds have been well-documented, and I could not do justice to her exploits or her life.
Look it up.
