A King for the People

And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord.
And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
 --I Samuel 8:5-7
And therein lies a tale.  Study the Word.

  1. Vee, I really want to go into this theme but I have been addled by the collywobbles. Perhaps sometime soon.

  2. Sometimes I think God's punishment is to give us what we ask for.

  3. Chuck, touch on that point in Tuesday's post. Remember the Garth Brooks song,
"Sometimes I thank God, for unanswered prayers"?

  4. Yes, I do remember that Garth Brooks song. I particularly like it, because it illustrates that we don't always know what is best for us.
