So, Why would anyone buy, use, eat a product that is corrupt, decayed, rotten, spoiled, putrid, nasty, vile ... ?

Decadence can refer to a personal trait. Used to describe a person's lifestyle. Concise Oxford Dictionary: "a luxurious self-indulgence"

ReplyDeleteI could dearly use a little luxurious self-indulgence. There is nothing wrong with treating yourself well - materially and otherwise. It is actually a trait that should be nurtured more. It is not as common as one might think reading the newspapers.

The first definition in my Meriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary agrees with the concepts in your post. However, it also says, "characterized by or appealing to self-indulgence."
